Our Commitment to Privacy
SEVEC is committed to ensuring the accuracy, confidentiality and integrity of all personal information*. The responsible collection, use and disclosure of the personal information provided by our members, participants and employees is an important tenet in our organization.
Any time you work with SEVEC, you are protected by the rights and safeguards established in our Privacy Policy (available by contacting our office).
- “Personal information” is personally identifiable information such as your name, residential address, telephone number and e-mail address. It also includes information about your program history, current registration in programs, billing records and service.
Publicly available information, such as your name, title, business address and business phone number, is not considered personal information.
Collection and Use of Personal Information
SEVEC collects and uses your personal information for the purpose of providing you with the programs and services you have requested from us, or for the purposes set out in this statement. SEVEC will not sell, lease or trade your personal information to other third parties and will not disclose your personal information to anyone else without your prior knowledge or consent, except when required by a government body or agency, or as permitted by law, or to a trusted service provider who has agreed to protect the privacy of the information.
Your personal information is used to communicate with you about your program application and to provide you with information related to membership in SEVEC and services provided. SEVEC may contact you from time to time to conduct surveys in an effort to continually improve our program and service offerings.
SEVEC will only ask for information about you that we need and will only ask for it when we need it. When we ask you for the information, we will explain to you why we need it and what we are going to do with it. We will seek your prior consent to the collection, use and disclosure of the information as required by applicable privacy legislation. Subject to legal and contractual requirements, you can refuse to consent to our collection, use or disclosure of information about you. You may also withdraw your consent to any further collection, use or disclosure of information about you at any time by giving us reasonable notice. If our intended disclosures or uses of information change, we will notify you accordingly.
You can access our website home page and browse our site without disclosing your personal data. Anonymous or non-identifiable information gathered by SEVEC through our websites may be used for technical, research and analytical purposes. Information, which does not identify individuals, collected through surveys, existing files and public archives may be used by SEVEC to analyze its markets and to develop or enhance program offerings and service.
Youth’s Privacy
For program participants under 18 years of age, we will obtain permission from a parent or legal guardian to collect and use personally identifiable information about the youth.
Disclosure
To enable us to more efficiently provide the programs and services you have requested from us, SEVEC may share your personal information with selected third parties who are acting on our behalf as our agents, suppliers or service providers. Such third party service providers are provided only with such information as is necessary in the circumstances (e.g. your full name will be given to our travel agent in order to purchase your ticket; your name and address to our insurer for insurance purposes). Information provided to third parties may be used only for the purpose stipulated and is subject to strict terms of confidentiality.
Accuracy
SEVEC commits to ensuring that information we hold about you is as accurate, complete and as up-to-date as possible. Please inform us of any changes to your personal information including name, address or other related file information. See contact information at the end of this document. In the event you have questions about the accuracy of factual information we have collected about you, you will have access to that information to verify and update it.
Security
We are committed to protecting your privacy. Security measures, such as locked cabinets, restricted access and the use of passwords and encryption have been adopted to protect your personal information against loss, theft, unauthorized access, etc. Our employees have been trained to respect your privacy at all times and those employees with access to your personal information shall use your personal information strictly in accordance with the SEVEC Privacy Policy and the laws applicable to each specific business.
